“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship” Romans 12:1
My miscellaneous thoughts:
•?I fully surrendered my life to Christ as a junior in high school. I remember a speaker in youth group handed out a blank contract from God. The challenge was to sign it before God filled in the details, to commit even before you knew the specifics. I signed it and meant it. Do you remember specifically when you fully committed yourself to living for God?
•?The biggest problem with a “living sacrifice” is that it can still have the propensity to crawl off the altar! Many times I have had to crawl back up there. I’m grateful God is patient with me in those times when I get distracted or lose heart. Every single day I must choose to remain on the altar.
•?The basis for Paul’s appeal is “in view of God’s mercy”. He also states that this decision I need to make is my “spiritual act of worship.” The word “spiritual” could be translated “logical”. In other words, committing my life to God only makes sense – it is the clearly logical thing for me to do – In light of the fact the Jesus died for me is it asking too much for me to live for Him? (I think not!)
What thoughts do you have on Romans 12:1???
