“See, I will send my messenger, who will prepare the way before me. Then suddenly the Lord you are seeking will come to his temple; the messenger of the covenant, whom you desire, will come,” says the LORD Almighty.” Malachi 3:1
Advent is the season to prepare our hearts to receive anew the gift of Christ. We are to focus ourselves spiritually – intentionally develop a seeking heart, a desirous spirit, an anticipation that God is about to break through into our world. Advent calls us to center on Him!
Check out these lyrics of the classic Christmas hymn by Charles Wesley:
Come, thou long expected Jesus,
??born to set thy people free;
??from our fears and sins release us,
??let us find our rest in thee.
??Israel?s strength and consolation,
??hope of all the earth thou art;
??dear desire of every nation,
??joy of every longing heart.
As you move to heighten your sense of anticipation – use these Advent readings this week:
?* Malachi 3:1-4
?* Luke 1:68-79
