My Grandpa passed away on Wednesday evening after an 8 year battle with cancer. He fought long and hard and is finally at rest now. The past couple days, I?ve been reflecting on John chapter 11. In this beautiful passage, we see Jesus interacting with those who have lost a loved one…one whom Jesus loved as well.??
32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.”
33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. 34 “Where have you laid him?” he asked.
“Come and see, Lord,” they replied.
35 Jesus wept.
36 Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!”
??As Jesus interacted with Mary, He was deeply moved in spirit and troubled and He wept. In this difficult time, I find comfort in the fact that Jesus has experienced what my family and I are experiencing. He knows what it is to lose a loved one. Our God is a God who is intimately involved in our lives. He meets us in our pain.
