Chicago Marathon

Sunday, 10/9/11, is a big day for me. While the ACC family is gathering for worship, I will be running the Chicago Marathon. I?ve run several half marathons in the past 2 years, but this will be my first full. I?ll be running with my brother and my Dad. I?m excited and extremely nervous.
My running journey began about 2.5 years ago. At that point, I was very overweight and couldn?t run around the block. With the help of my family and some great friends, I?ve made some major lifestyle changes, fallen in love with running, and lost around 60 lbs in the process. Sunday is a milestone I dreamed of, but never actually imagined reaching. I will start running around 7:50am and am hoping to be done around 11:30 (or just as second service is finishing up here at ACC). If you think of it, I?d appreciate your prayers as I finish preparing for and set out to run the marathon on Sunday.
Some ways you can be praying for me:
- Health. Lisa and the kids came down with colds yesterday. I?m feeling a little under the weather right now.
- Strength/Perseverance. Even though I?m well trained, it?s gonna be tough.
- Safety. Any number of things can go wrong on race day.
