His first time ever at ACC was on Easter morning. A longtime friend had invited him. He listened intently to the good news about Jesus Christ and expressed an interest in knowing more. About a week later I had the opportunity to have lunch with him, and be with him as he crossed the line of faith. (He understood his need for forgiveness, and for the first time in his life he truly understood that it wasn’t about him trying harder to achieve salvation but rather accepting the free gift of God in Jesus Christ.)
Since then God has been doing a remarkable work in his life! I received his permission to include a few excerpts from recent emails he has sent to me:
I truly feel I received the gift of God. I feel so much different than I did everyday before. I continue to read the bible and I have listened to all your teachings on your church website. I pray for myself for others every day, multiple times a day, and out-loud! I pray for Jesus to come and stay in my life. I know I have so much more to learn and I know I need God and Jesus in my life every day. I know Jesus has come into my life because I was able to sleep about 6 hours straight on Monday night and about the same on Tuesday night. It might not sound like alot, but to me it was more sleep than I have had in months! I would sleep for 30 minutes to an hour and wake up for 2 hours every night in the previous days, weeks and months. It was horrible! And now I am able to get some rest. God is good! Sorry to ramble on, I just want you to know that I am so grateful for you and of course I am so thankful and grateful that God gave me the gift of forgiveness and the gift of trusting in God. I look forward to Sunday! I need and want to learn everything there is to learn about Jesus and God.
Thank you for asking about my job search. When I lost my job about 2 weeks and some days ago, I thought my world was crashing fast. Not because of the job loss but I felt the job loss was the last “bad thing” that could happen to me. BUT it was a blessing. After a few days of really feeling terrible, nothing but GREAT things have happened to me. The MOST important thing is that I truly believe I have been given Grace and the gift of God. I feel like God has given me life. I pray and thank God multiple time a day for… as I say it….. “letting me into His life”. I have so much faith and I have never felt better. In the last week or so I have slept and eaten more than I have in the last 2 months combined. That in itself to me really is a true blessing. I will not stop praying and studying the bible for as long as I live.
BOOM! That’s what I’m talking about!!! The joy of someone crossing the line of faith is unmatched by any other experience.
In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents. Luke 15:10
We state that our purpose as a church is to be a loving community where ordinary people experience the life-changing power of Jesus Christ. By God’s grace we are fulfilling our purpose one life at a time.
Keep praying for your family and friends and keep inviting them to church! Our God is mighty to save!
Please join with me in praying for this new follower of Christ. May many more be following close behind him in crossing the line of faith.
How about you? Have you crossed the line of faith? If you’d like to know more email me at Dave@acchurch.org. I’d love to interact with you!
